During the school year, Growing Roots offers full day childcare in a mixed age setting with a Montessori classroom fostering self-directed learning in a nurturing environment, with a strong emphasis on outdoor learning.  

Our usual format for the day is:

Open Hours | 7:30am- 5pm

August - May; We operate five days a week, with breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, as well as Easter.  Refer to our school calendar for exact dates.

Drop-off | 7:30 am-8:00 am

Pick-up | 4:00 pm- 5:00 pm

How to Apply:

The Growing Roots scholarship application process requires two steps. Applicants must first apply for SD state aid and submit proof of acceptance or rejection; a state aid rejection will not impact eligibility for a Growing Roots scholarship. After completing the state aid application, please complete our scholarship application. An independent community committee will then review all applications and determine awards.

2024-2025 Calendar

Growing Roots Programs operate Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm every week during the school year with the exception of the dates below.  We follow weather closures observed by Custer School District (morning programs will be canceled on days with delayed starts).   The summer program details will be posted by March 2025.
